- The biggest race of the season for all of us
- Britain’s three riders look forward to racing in front of “incredible” home crowd
As Silverstone makes final preparations ahead of this weekend’s Hertz British Grand Prix (tickets available via www.silverstone.co.uk), the next round of the 2013 FIM MotoGP World Championship, Britain’s three MotoGP riders – Cal Crutchlow, Bradley Smith and Michael Laverty – have come together for a British Grand Prix photo shoot, in support of their home race.
The British Grand Prix, taking place this weekend (30 August – 01 September), is the UK’s flagship motorcycle racing event and a highlight on the UK sporting calendar. With three British riders lining up on the famous Silverstone start grid, the atmosphere promises to be electric. Britain’s riders will go head-to-head with the best in the world, including Championship leader Marc Márquez and World Champions Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo.
The passionate home crowd will have plenty to cheer about at Silverstone, with Cal Crutchlow leading the British charge in MotoGP, while Scott Redding, who currently leads the Moto2 World Championship, will be looking to tighten his grip on the 2013 title.
With the season already approaching two-thirds of the way through, Britain’s three MotoGP riders are all looking forward to their home race:
Cal Crutchlow, Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team: “Brno wasn’t the best preparation for my home race at Silverstone, but I go there knowing I have the pace and that I can be challenging at the front. I am really excited for Silverstone and I know the support from the British fans will be incredible, so hopefully I can give them something to cheer about.”
Bradley Smith, Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team: “It’s been a fantastic year for British riders in MotoGP this season with Cal, Scott and myself getting some great results. We get one big chance to show the British fans how well we have done and that’s at the Hertz British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It’s the biggest race of the season for all of us in front of those home fans who have been brilliant this season. Bring it on.”
Michael Laverty, Paul Bird Motorsport: “Silverstone will be the first circuit on the calendar that I have intimate knowledge of. Combine this with the home support from family, friends and the fans, it promises to be a great weekend. There is a great buzz surrounding the event this year, and I can’t wait.”
Tickets for the 2013 Hertz British Grand Prix are available at advance prices, via www.silverstone.co.uk, until 12 noon on Thursday 29 August. After this time they will be available during the event at ‘on the gate’ prices.
