- Award for ZF Test Systems
- New noise protection cabin improves measurements and enhances operator protection
The new EOL-transmission test rig for the unique 9-speed automatic transmission has been honoured with the internationally acclaimed iF product design award 2013.
The New Year started very successfully for ZF in Passau. Once again, a product made by ZF won an award. This year, the Test Systems business unit can be proud to have received the sought-after iF product design award.
The newly developed noise protection cabin with its remarkable design serves to ensure an acoustically correct measurement of the specimens, and to protect the operator. The huge safety glass doors provide optimum access and excellent inside view for visual checks of the test components, as well as perfect noise damping. By being tiltable and adjustable in linear direction, the monitor arm offers perfect ergonomics for service and operation.
Optimum protection of the operator is guaranteed by the optional safety fence, which also allows a perfect view on the handling roboters and the test components.
An international jury evaluates the contributions on the basis of their design quality, finish, choice of material, degree of innovation, environmental impact, functionality, ergonomics, visualization of intended use, safety, brand value and branding as well as the aspects of universal design.
The new ZF transmission test rig carries out oil filling and final inspection of the world’s first 9-speed automatic transmission for transverse engines. The transmissions are subjected to acoustic, hydraulic and electric tests in various test procedures.
As of 2013, the 9HP will be produced, and tested with the new EOL transmission test rigs, in Gray Court in the U.S. State of South
