Huddersfield’s Daniel Lloyd will remain with multiple title-winning Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship squad Team Parker Racing for his second season in the high-profile category after today, Monday, 7th January, signing a 2013 race deal with the Leicestershire outfit.
Enjoying a sensational debut season at the wheel of his rear-wheel drive Porsche 911 GT3 racer, ending the year sixth overall in the driver standings and taking a memorable race victory along the way, the 2012/2013 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar is now focused on a sustained title push.
Marking himself out as a consistent front-runner last season, Daniel – who races in support of the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice based in West Yorkshire – is delighted to remain with the Stuart Parker-led team with which he built a tremendous working relationship in 2012.
“I really am so happy to be racing with Team Parker again, it’s fantastic to be back for a second year in Porsche Carrera Cup GB but even better to have the continuity of working with all of the guys we had such an amazing first season with last year”, said the 20-year-old.
“Stuart [Parker] runs such a professional team, always challenging at the front, and they’ve won lots of championships. It’s going to be a massive challenge to win the title, Porsche GB is the hardest and most competitive championship I’ve ever raced in, but with a full season’s experience behind me I’m confident we can really hit the ground running when the racing starts.”
As the first ever Scholarship Winner to be supported for a second season by Porsche GB, Daniel is clearly held in high regard and the securing of the MSA Academy driver’s signature for 2013 is a boost for Team Parker Racing.
One of the true mainstay squads in Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Team Parker Racing has been at the forefront of the British championship since it was inaugurated in 2003. Winning countless races and numerous titles, the Leicester Forest West outfit is eyeing continued success with Daniel this year.
“Dan had a tough but fantastic first year in the Carrera Cup”, said team principal Stuart Parker, “Now he knows the team, the car and the circuits and will be going all out to win the championship. It’s great to have such a fast and dedicated driver to spearhead the team.”
Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent will host the opening two rounds of the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship over Easter Weekend, 30th/31st March, with the 20 round season coming to a conclusion just over six months later on 12th/13th October at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit.
