Eleven years after winning a Subaru Legacy in a radio competition, Middlesbrough man Chris Flynn has traded in his beloved Japanese estate car for… a new Subaru Legacy.

Mr Flynn, who hadn’t owned a Subaru prior to his lucky win on Classic FM, found his first Legacy “absolutely perfect” to live with and felt that a newer version of the same model was the only new-car choice for him. “In 11 years of ownership not once did I have a single problem with the car, so when I heard about the government scrappage scheme, and felt like changing the car, there was only one option – another Subaru Legacy,” he continued.

Having part-exchanged his dark green S-registration model for a brand-new Newport Blue Legacy Sports Tourer at Middlesbrough Subaru dealership, Derek Slack Motors, Mr Flynn is still getting accustomed to the new-car experience. “This latest Legacy is clearly a huge step forward compared to my previous Legacy, and I’m enjoying the process of getting to know all the features of the new model,” he commented.

Early impressions of the new 2.0-litre Tourer are good. “I’m very impressed with the quality, particularly of the interior. The new car is very spacious and practical, and the refinement and ride comfort in particular are excellent,” enthused Mr Flynn.

The New Legacy range starts at £23,295 for the 2.0D S, and rises to £27,295 for the 2.5i SE NavPlus Lineartronic.
